Good Morning Rose

Good Morning Rose
Driving the beat this late, early morning Freeport hates a cop
But I’m a good man’s hand to bet on
And I need a pick me up, its a rose I used to love
burning down west 7th street
Maybe you’re my winding road
Its no use driving it alone, all alone
And so rose, let the morning in your golden hair
Be a little moment in my overhead lights as you drive away.
And rose, well Velasco won’t be the same town
now that I’m in love with a woman, and you sure look good you know
and it’s a good, good morning rose.
I’ve got a one track mind I found somewhere down a thin blue line,
it left my conscience in the dust.
But rose, you lift me up, teach me a wilder kind of love
And now I understand.
Maybe you’re my one-two punch.
Maybe I think too much, I always think too much.
And so rose, let the morning in your golden hair
be a little moment in my overhead lights as you drive away.
And rose, well Velasco won’t be the same town
now that I’m in love with a woman, and you sure look good you know
and it’s a good, good morning rose.

Steamboat Song

Born in the arms of the Mississippi River
And raised up for Gamblers and Peddlers to use.
She gave her heart to a poor riverboat man
down on his luck with nothing to lose
The Captain was kind, though no man would have her
One season in the waters unfit for the trade
Oh but he took the wheel and called her Hiawatha
Said, “I'll never leave you my paddleboat maid.”
Steam on steam on, you poor riverboat man
the waters are wide and troubles will fall.
But one day her name will be told in a story
and one day your picture will hang on the wall
They plied the waters, captain and lady
down on the Brazos where they could belong
old East Columbia, up to Belle's Landing
Smoke blowing paddle wheels rolling along
Steam on steam on, you poor riverboat man
the waters are wide and troubles will fall.
But one day her name will be told in a story
and one day your picture will hang on the wall
Once on a winter night with no moonlight
there in the shallows she ran aground
oh he cried Hiawatha, my paddleboat maiden
I'll never leave you love, I'd sooner drown
Steam on steam on, you poor riverboat man
the waters are wide and troubles will fall.
But one day her name will be told in a story
and one day your picture will hang on the wall

The Elements
04:06
|

Oh Diana,
you hold your feelings wrong.
When they told you about the Elements,
you only noticed one.
When I knew you once, the Heavens
were all our minds could see,
and I pulled the stars around
you were dancing next to me.
But all I ever wanted was
a love that I could lean on
and hold until the morning comes.
When I'm falling now in orbit
my mind fades into blue.
It goes on and on for light years
but always comes back to you.
And all I ever wanted was
a love that I could lean on
and hold until the morning comes.

Booking down main at 90 miles an hour like a rocket on a rolling train
Red lights flashing, blue lights flashing in the Angelina County rain
Ah, well he’s a bad high roller, never thought he’d ever live this long
But all he ever wanted was a shoulder to cry on.
Taking the stage in Southern California in the latest summer clothes
Oh it’s just one more pull on one more bottle and she’s striking her last pose.
Oh but there’s a bad man coming and he’s begging her to tag along
‘Cause all she ever wanted was a shoulder to cry on
See the bullets fly by the county line
We’re burning rubber to the promised land
It’s a beauty queen at a crime scene, runner up
Miss California and the Bad Man
Trading full metal jacket with a government man and he’s burning out a magazine
California’s in the back with the money in a stack and a gallon of gasoline
Ah there just two high rollers, never thought they’d ever live this long
But all they ever wanted was a shoulder to cry on.
See the bullets fly by the county line
We’re burning rubber to the promised land
It’s a beauty queen at a crime scene, runner up
Miss California and the Bad Man.

Evangeline
04:37
|
|||
You know life can be so unkind,
and we all have doubts about love.
And if we don't, we get too comfortable
with what we have, not what we need.
Oh, and everytime, everytime I turn around
It feels like the walls are falling down.
So I pray that time, Evangeline, is fading away from me.
And please, in my time of need, won't you come
and set my soul free.
Oh, Evangeline, Evangeline, Evangeline
Lord, have mercy, have mercy on me.
It seems like the harder I try
the more that the world puts me through.
And pain is all I can take
to feel the sweet release of you.
Oh, and I die, I die a little everyday
so I can live your way, Lord I pray...
Oh time, Evangeline, is fading away from me.
And please, in my time of need, won't you come
and set my soul free.
Oh, Evangeline, Evangeline, Evangeline
Lord, have mercy, have mercy on me.

Hays County Jailhouse
03:34
|
|||
Well I'm stuck on Aquarena, lord, waiting on a slow train
when a policeman well he waived his hand and said, “Pull in the shoulder lane.”
Well I done like he said and I shook my head, “Man this ain't what I need, oh it's been
a hell of a day and I'm already late to get to where I need to be.”
Well that policeman he walked up, said, “You got a broken tail light, Mo,”
and I looked him dead in his eye, and I replied, “Tell me something I don't know.”
He said, “Glad to oblige,” and reached for a shiny pair of handcuffs from his waist,
“You got such and outstanding ticket, boy it'd be a shame to let it go to waste.”
Bail me out, friend won't you bail me out.
I'm stuck in the Hays County Jailhouse now,
Friend won't you bail me out!
So I'm back there in the booking room and there's a drunk man on the floor.
Well he looks up and he sits up an says, “Boy, whatcha in here for?”
And I coulda told him I was evil, man but me and my big mouth,
well we just stuttered out, “It's a little old ticket,” and he just laughed out loud.
Bail me out, friend won't you bail me out.
I'm stuck in the Hays County Jailhouse now,
Friend won't you bail me out!
Well some men they're made of metal, boy and some don't fare so well
when you take all their possessions, and throw 'em in a holding cell.
Oh but I'll be alright as long as I keep my back against the wall
and hope my first incarceration's my last run in with the law!
Bail me out, friend won't you bail me out.
I'm stuck in the Hays County Jailhouse now,
Friend won't you bail me out!
